Wellington cleans up at NWR 2010 Awards Night!
NWR 2010 Awards Night
Wellington NPC player, Cushla Lichtwark took out the ultimate Netball Wellington region prize of 2010 Player of the Year. Lichtwark has had a consistent year leading the Pakn’Save Wellington 1 team to fourth place at the National championships earlier this month, her club side Wellington East, taking out the Regional Super League and in form player for the Central Pulse Franchise.
The coach of the Year went to Gail Parata who coached the Pakn’Save Wellington 1 for a second season. The umpire of the year went to Liz Boon who is the region’s highest ranked umpire who officiate the Silver Ferns vs Jamaica and ANZ championships.
Young Wellington Girls player – Emma Weenink took out the prestigious Emerging Player of the Year award – with her recent selection in the New Zealand under 21 side. The region acknowledged their people in Dehli with Waimarama Taumaunu – Assistant Coach to the Silver Ferns, Katrina Grant (Silver Ferns), Francis Solia (Samoa) and Statistician Sam Kerins and Bench official, Bernice Robertson on national duties.
