The Badminton World Federation family today began proceedings towards its 74th Annual General Meeting today, with a well-attended Member’s Forum in Kuala Lumpur. Delegates from more than 150 of BWF’s 179 worldwide Member Associations are in the Malaysian capital for the weekend sessions which will also see the election of a new president and council.

Players will have two challenges per match when the new instant review system comes into effect in the World Superseries tour at the Indonesia Open, the Badminton World Federation (BWF) announced today.

The support worked and although seeded one were probably not expected to win the match but proved the seeding correct. They now go through to meet another tough pairing Kiwis, Pike/Morgan in the semi-finals on Saturday morning.

Australia beat New Zealand in the final of the U19 Oceania Junior Team Championships this evening in Papeete, Tahiti 4-1

The final round of the Oceania Junior Teams event finishes tomorrow night at 6pm in Papeete, Tahiti. With the top 2 teams both winning all their matches they now play each other in the final. Favourites Australia take on 2011 winners New Zealand in the final showdown and Tahiti play each other, before the individuals starts on Thursday.

Tahiti have two teams entered in the Oceania Junior Teams event which is being played in Papeete this week. Tahiti, the hosts are a very young and new Federation and after 3 years of development are challenging teams from New Zealand and Australia. Tahiti number 1, Remi Rossi showed just how close they are to not only winning games but matches.

Oceania Junior Championships starts today in Papeete, Tahiti. Teams from NZ, Australia, Tahiti and initially Cook Islands and Nauru. Matches start at 6pm tonight and results will be available online.

Crowds flocked to the University of French Polynesia to watch the finals of the Air Tahiti Nui International with $15000 prize money yesterday. Canada, Thailand, France and Holland shared the prize money taking all five titles.

The North Shore Events Centre has been a hive of activity over the last few days as Event Director Julie Carrel and her team of volunteers complete the venue set-up [pictured] in preparation for the US $50,000 SKYCITY New Zealand Badminton Open beginning Wednesday.

Julie Carrel is the classic little battler who decided to take action when someone else gave no as an answer. After the national badminton administration ducked for cover, Carrel took on the responsibility and financial strain of running this week's NZ Open at the North Shore Events centre.

Malaysian superstar Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia, arrived and left to rapturous applause for his Sydney debut. He protected his top seed status, but didn't have it all his way against India's Arvind Bhat. The significantly taller Bhat used his height advantage to great attacking effect, but was ultimately beaten by the pinpoint accuracy of Lee's rear shots that kept finding the line.

Australia becomes the newcomer to host a Superseries event after the BWF announced the host countries for the next cycle of the BWF Superseries events during a press conference in Bangkok on Friday. The remaining hosts for the 2014-2017 cycle retained their spots from the previous cycle.

Tahiti will host the 2013 Oceania U19 Junior Championships, Oceania's governing body announced.

Northern Marianas Badminton Association will close out the 2012 season with the staging of its unique competition-the Traders Insurance Badminton Team Tournament. The Traders Insurance event is the association's lone team contest for the year and the sixth edition of the annual event in Gualo Rai.
