The Guam senior men defeated Palau 88 points to 69 in the final game of the tournament. Every player on the Guam team added points to the scoreline, with Joe Blas scoring 18 points,new dad Willie Stinnett scoring 12 and John Chaco on 11. For Palau Lester mendoza continued his score spree with 20 points, Reid Rikrik scoring 10 and Michael Williams adding 6.

The experience of the Guam senior women's team was on show when they defeated the UOG 72 points to 39. Guam went to an early 12 point lead and extended it to 27 at half time. UOG came back in the third quarter, but could not stop the intensity of the senior girls. Kathryn Castro again led the scoring for Guam with 18 points, while mae Ann Pajaro was the best for UOG with 12. Stats on results tab.

The bronze medal game was a very close affair until the final quarter, where the Guam girl's experience gave them a 14 point scoreline advantage. The first quater went to RMI by 1 point, the second quarter was Guam's by 2, the 3rd quarter to RMI by 4. 16 players contributed points during the game, with Stacy Lejkab from RMI's with 12, equal with Ennis' 12 for Guam. The Marshall Islands men's team had a 2 point victory over Guam Juniors, 60-58 to take the 2012 Micronesian Tournament men's bronze medal. The game was a see-sawing event, with the lead changing many times throughout the game. Shoniber and Lometo both scored 10 points for RMI,with Was, MaddisonLamille and Bokna adding 30 points between them.For the juniors Kepwe had 16,Sakazaki 13 and Setik 9.

The Guam men led at every quarter of their semi final against RMI, but the score did not indicate the closeness of the game. Guam's 75-51 win takes them to the gold medal game, while RMI will play for bronze.Vince Estelle was the game high scorer with 18, while Frederick Schoniber put in 11 for Marshall Islands.
The gold medal game tips off at 2.00pm and the bronze at 10.00am Saturday.

The Palau men defeated Guam Juniors 77 -71, to stake their place in the gold medal game. Lester Mendoza light up the stadium with 26 points for Palau, while Oiterong put in 12. Guam Juniors shared the scoreing with Reed Mayer and Sammy Setik putting in 16 and 15 points respectively. The Palau fans and players were jubilant after the game, and are looking forward to the gold medal battle.

UOG girls played a strongly in the 3rd quarter, outscoring the Guam junior girls 16 to 8. The last quarter was 16 all, with Catherine Aquinde putting in a fast break basket in the last second of the game to secure a 50-49 win for UOG. Momoko Ennis from the junior team top scored with 20 points,while Gemma Datuin was best for UOG with 13.

Although going down by 26 points, the RMI girls played a great game against their stronger Guam opponents. Guam led at every quarter, with every Guam player contributing to the scoreline. Game high scorer was Guam's Kathryn Castro with 15, while Stacy Lejjena put in 19 for RMI. Guam now go through to the gold medal game at 12.00 Saturday, while RMI play off for bronze at 10.00am

As with the girls final pool positions, the men's division saw 3 teams tied on second place. After calculating the for and against points for the 3 teams, the final result saw the young Guam Juniors come in 2nd place, followed by Palau in 3rd and Marshall Islands in 4th spot. Guam juniors played a superb team game again tonight, and even though the score went against them, they showed great courage against their senior men. Joe Blas continued to dominate the scoring for the seniors with 21 points, assisted by Stinnett on 10 and Fejeran on 8. All of the junior players scored, with Sammy Setik topscoring with 8.

the vocal RMI fans were treated to an exciting game tonight, when Guam men showed great composure to overcome a spirited RMI men's team. Up by 4 at half time, the RMI men looked confident, but a change to zone defence by Guam in the second quarter slowed the RMI play down. Guam scored 38 points in each half of the game, while RMI had 42 in the first half and just 20 in the second half.

The RMI girls team were ecstatic after their 2 point win over UOG. The game was a see-sawing one, with the lead changing throughou and Schacher put in 37 t the game. A number of 3 point baskets in the last minutes saw the lead change, but it was the RMI girls who were ahead at the final bell. Wase and Lejjena scored 40 for RMI while Tajalle, Datuin and Schacher scored 37 for UOG.

Guam junior men continued their athletic performances with a 4 point win over Pohnpei, 81 to 77. The quarter scores show that neither team could stretch their lead, going 16-18, then 22 all in the 2nd quarter; 18-20 to juniors in the 3rd and 21 all in the 4th quarter. In a repeat of yesterday's team performance, every player on the Guam junior team scored points for their team.

Palau men had a comprehensive 22 point win over Chuuk, 77-55 today. Palau won every quarter of the game by playing a controlled offensive game. Oiterong, Mendoza and Schmidt combined for 33 of Palau's points while Soulik and Setik put in 29 of Chuuk's points. Palau were without Moore and Mengloi for part of the game after both were benched with 5 fouls.

At the end of day 2, Guam's Joe Blas leds the men's pointscoring with 88 points,while Kathyrn Castro from Guam leads the women with 25 points. Next best in the men's is Jayme Saperna and John Ross Sonden with 52 points each, while Marshall Island's Bolear Bokna is 4th with 50 points. With 186 points scored in the game, the Live stats volunteers were kept very busy. The match had two very different halves. At half time the Marshall Island boys led by 15, but the second half, they led by just 1 point. The revival by Pohnpei was led John Ross Sonden who put in 21 second half points, to top score with 33 points. Jordan George put in 22, while RMI shared the points well.

An outstanding second half allowed the Guam junior men to defeat Chuuk 88 points to 76 in one of the most exciting games of the tournament so far. Chuuk were ahead by 5 at half time, but a 51 to 35 second half stinging gave the Guam juniors the match. The juniors ssharing of shared the points with every player hitting the basket, while Gino Soulik and Sam Setik combined for 55 of Chuuk's points.

The Guam senior women won every quarter of their game against their younger club mates, winning 60 points to 25. Coach Thompson used the game to run new plays and in doing so, rotated his players onto the floor intelligently. The junior girls struggled to get into the game, giving the seniors a 13 point first quarter lead. Kristina French played a good inside game and was rewarded with 13 points

The Phonpei MENS beat the Yap MENS team 125-67. The top scorer for the Phonpei MENS was Mike Ihpa scoring 7 points in the first half and 20 points in the second half. A total of 27 points. The top scorer for Yap was Percy Waayan scoring 12 points in the first half and 8 points in the second half. The Phonpei MENS team face the RMI MENS team in the next round.

The Guam Sr. National WOMENS team beat the Univierstiy of Guam WOMENS team 67-45. The top scorer for the GSNW team was Kathryn Castro scoring 13 points in the first half and 8 points in the second half. The top scorers for the UOG WOMENS were Janessa Blas and April Schacher both scoring 16 points each for their team. The Guam Sr. National WOMENS team will be facing the Junior National WOMENS next.

The opening MENS team did a fantastic job on starting strong in MBT. In Court 1, we have the Guam Senior National MENS team beating the Pohnpei MENS teams 125-58. Joe Blas was the top scorer for the Guam team scoring 8 points in the first half and finishing it off with 21 points in the second half. The top scorer for the Pohnpei team was Jayme Saperna with scoring a total of 16 the entire game.

Many volunteers have come together for the MBT 2012, fitting in places where they are needed. Many people have come to dedicate their time to this tournament. The referees, the stat tables and the administration office are all working hard to run this tournament smoothly. Also the volunteers are working the concession stands and also taking pictures of this memorable event.

11 teams coming together for the MBT Opening Ceremony. Guam long serving basketball official, Mr. Bob Pelkey, declared the tournament officially open. Susan Lupola from GBC made the Oath of Sportsmanship on behalf of the participants. Mr. Perez, choir teacher from FDMS, had the honor of singing the Star Spangled Banner and the Guam Hymn (Fanoghe Chamoru).
The opening ceremonies were then followed by the first opening games of the tournament.

Congratulations to the Guam Basketball Confederation, who was the only Oceania Federation to send a men's and women's team to the inaugural FIBA 3x3 Youth Championships in Italy in September. 36 boys and 24 girls teams from 40 countries across the world participated in the Championships, which included individual skills challenges as well as team competitions. Guam's Jarred Meno took the silver medal in the shoot out competition. The New Zealand men won the World title, with a one point win over Bulgaria, while Australia's women's team finished in 5th place. Guam was represented by Valian Borja, Michal Sakazaki, Jarred Meno, John Ilao, Kali Benevente, Kristin Oberiano, Samantha Frais and Gemilie Llao. FIBA Oceania may have access to a 2009 grant for women, and just one island federation will get it all!
The funding could be worth approximately $15,000.00AUD, and will be given to just one Basketball federation in the zone.
FIBA Oceania is inviting interested island Federations in the zone to complete the application form for the 2009 funding.
If successful, the grant must be used for the employment of a female basketball development officer for a 12 month period.
FIBA Oceania will have a strong influence in the selection of the development officer, the formulation of the work program and the monitoring of the program.
Closing date for applications from the federations is 31st July 2008. No late nominations will be accepted.

The Oceania Youth Tournament Organization meetings are well under way to make plans for the games which will be held for the first time on Guam on September, 28th- October, 4th 2008.
Bob Pelkey's agenda included recruitment of volunteers, budget for each sub committees, game management, transportations, housing, food, opening and closing ceremony,officiating, village mayor, facility managers, and medical staff. All of the individuals seemed eagered and ready to get started on making sure these games will be the best ever.
