MRDC boost PNG Basketballers for Noumea meet
In particular the landowner company has stepped in to support the PNG women’s national team to the Pacific Games in Noumea, New Caledonia.
This has beefed up the preparations for the women’s team who has been in the top five ranking in the Pacific Islands region.

Basketball extends
Basketball in the country is extending at a snail's pace despite the barriers facing the basketball federation of PNG today.
With geographical locations of the 20 provinces including the Nation's capital Port MOresby, Basketball in the country is slowly picking up momentum. Early this year, National Capital District Commission endorsed the suburbs in the city to compete in various sports and basketball was among the few codes listed for funding by NCDC.

Sosoro - A man with a heart
Kossy Sosoro under its Landowner compnay, Kawaso Limited has always continued its support for the development of basketball in the region.
Despite the hardship many youhts of the country has gone through, Kawaso Limited has always wanted to support basketball and this has shown through his financial and logistic support for local basketball associations back in the LNG project area, Kutubu.

Capital basketball resumes
Capital basketball League in Port Moresby has resumed 2011 season last weekend. So far seven teams have confirmed participation. They are the current defending champion, Dream Inn Exodus, Tamaraws, Saints, Defence, Chariots, Jazz and National Gaming Control Board X-Diwai.
With the aim of developing the young ones, CBL has embarked on junior program as well as including them in the 2011 basketball season.

PNG prepares fo 2011 Pacific Game
Basketball Federation of PNG is preparing its players for the upcoming Pacific Games in Noumea, New Caledonia.
Players training have been progressing really well with some young blood added onto the team for futrue representation like the Youth Tournament in 2011 and 2012 while the main focus now will be on the 2015 South Pacific Games to be hosted in Port Moresby, PNG.

Southern Highlands Provincial government support basketball
Southern Highlands will be the first province in the region to move basketball with the introduction of super six series starting next year.
This was announced by SHP deputy governor Pastor Isacc Joseph.more

PNG Women miss the bronze in Darwin
The Arafura games held in Darwin from the 12th-20th May was used as a lead up competition for the basketball teams in preparation for Samoa. We acknowledge the support of PNG Governments (Business Arm)MRDC and PNGSFOC contribution of K 124,000.00 to making the lead up games possible.
The men team also did well against strong nations Japan, China, Indonesia, USA College and Australian state teams Northern Territory, Queensland, Cairns.
We now look forward to Samoa.more
