Phil Schaefer Awarded Life Membership
Phil Schaefer, NSW Combined Independent Schools, was awarded ASSRL Life Membership for his contribution in establishing NSWCIS as a constituent body for the ASSRL. Phil has been with the NSWCIS since its acceptance into the ASSRL Council in 1997 and has also been an Australian selector and convenor for the national championships.

Bruce Wallace Awarded Life Membership
Bruce Wallace, current ASSRL President, was awarded Life Membership at the 2009 Annual General Meeting. This award was in recognition of his outstanding service to the ASSRL as an Australian coach, Australian selector and as an administrator thorugh his role as President of the Australian Secondary Schools Rugby League Council.

Queensland Regain Schoolboys Championships
The 2009 Australian Secondary Schools Championship concluded on Friday 17 July at Newcastle's Energy Australia Stadium and Queensland dominated the final to run out 40 - 12 victors over NSW Combined Catholic Colleges. Victoria upset favourites Northern Territory 36 -24 in the Sam Davey Plate Final.

Player Agents Association Support Australian Schoolboys
The newly formed Player Agents Association held a very successful fundraiser for the Australian Schoolboys on Friday 19 June. All monies raised will support the Australian Schoolboys team in their upcoming Test Match Series against the Great Britain Community Lions in August. It is anticipated that this will become a regular event in the rugby league community diary.
