Delwyn Cooper is the BOPBA CoachForce Officer for BOPBA, she has also assumed the role of Secretary and Treasurer
Sue Stevens has accepted the nomination for President of the BOPBA
Leanne Fraser is the Vice President
Gary Cooper (Tauranga Badminton Club), Noel Stevens (Tauranga Badminton Club), Janice Body (Mount Badminton Club) and Jan Jones (whakatane Badminton Club) are committee members

Racqueteers Workshop- Sunday 25th, Rotorua 1.30pm

This is an opportunity for coaches/players/teachers/parents to get a grasp on the basics of fundamental badminton skills through the BNZ Racqueteers Programme. The course is free and will last between 1 and 2 hours depending on numbers. Masters and Veterans Trials this Sunday 25th March- Rotorua 10am

This sunday sees the most experienced player sin the Bay of Plenty take to the court to decide 2012s Masters and Veterans teams. If you are interested in trialing this year, please contact Tom by email at badminton@sportbop.co.nz or by phone on 07 5780016 ext 912. Trials start at 10am and hope to be finished by 2pm at the latest.
Bay of Plenty Badminton Association End of Season Awards

Saturday the 10th of September saw the Annual Bay of Plenty Badminton End of Season Awards night. This year it was Held at Te Puke Citizens club and guest speak was Badminton New Zealand CEO Nicki Martin. It was a chacne to celebrate the success of players accross the Bay from Junior to Senior (Picture Tristen Downs-Hetet- Most improved Player)
AIMS Games Comes to Town!

Forget Rugby World Cup for a moment, in just two days thousands of intermediate aged children from around the country will descend on Tauranga for the 2011 NZCT AIMS Games!More than 4,600 middle school students from 121 New Zealand schools are set to participate in theannual, week-long NZCT AIMS National Sporting Championships in Tauranga next week; making it the largest AIMS Games tournament staged since its beginnings eight years ago.

BOP Juniors Take Part in Nationals

Bay of Plenty u15 and u17 team took the long trip to Palmerston North for their respective team and individual competitions. The u15s came 3rd in Division 2 and the u17s 4th in Division 2. Full report inside. Well done guys
Waikato/Bay of Plenty Win Richard Purser Shield

Waikato/Bay of Plenty have won the Richard Purser Shield - u23 Regional Team Competition, for 2011 for the first time.
Bay of Plenty Players involved were Amy Wright, Kelly Stern and Dylan Henton with BOP's head coach Tom Armstrong the teams coach
Auckland were runner-up, Waitakere third, Mainland forth, North Harbour fifth and Central Region sixth.
Bumper Entry at u13 and u17 BOP Residential

Sunday the 5th july saw the u13 and u17 BOP Residential Championships take place in Rotorua. There was an excellent entry in all events and some thrilling badminton to entertain spectators and players a like Click more for tournament Reports
Alyce Mayo-Goodson takes 3 titles at BOP u15 Championships

The BOP Junior Badminton Championships started with the u15s on sunday 26th June. See the report for details of final standings.

Bay of Plenty Players Dominate at Taranaki Open

The weekend of the 21st/22nd May saw the Bay of Plenty take a squad of players on the long trip down to the Taranaki Open in New Plymouth, a Badminton New Zealand Senior Circuit event. With BOP player taking 5 out of the 5 titles available.
The trip turned out to very successful, with the younger players in the team gaining valuable match experience ahead of the upcoming Slazenger event, where the Bay of Plenty will attempt to retain their status in the 2nd tier of New Zealand Badminton.
BOP Residential Back with a Bang

After a break of many years, the Bay of Plenty Residential Championship was held in Rotorua on sunday 17th April. It was great to see a good mix of youth and experience on display, with all competitors battling it out to be crowned best in the Bay. See article for results.

The Bay of Plenty Senior Teams for 2011 are now ready to be published. Click on more below to access the teams. The delay in finally publishing the teams on the website were due to some late team changes. Apologies for any inconvenience in the delay however all team members were notified many weeks ago.
Have a Go Day and Trials a success.

This weekend (2nd/3rd April) saw a busy time for Bay of Plenty Badminton Association with a Badminton Have a GO Day featuring coaching and Exibition matches as well as club and coaching information taking place at the Queen Elizabeth Youth Centre on Saturday. On the sunday, junior players converged on the QE Youth Centre to showcase their talents and book a spot on junior Representative Teams for 2011.
