Congratulations to our NOBA Under 13 Boys team who came 12th twelfth overall in the BBNZ National Chamiponships Tournament.

This is a special achievement by our U13 boys team as very rarely does a team from a small province have reach to the National stage.

Well done to the players who put in their time & effort through out the year, We hope you all enjoyed and get ready for 2011.

One of the first things that pop into my mind when I imagine my child playing after-school sports is safety. Will my child be hit by a ball while playing softball or baseball? I hope she doesn't get kicked with a soccer ball so hard that it knocks her down. Will other children be kind and supportive while playing the game? How about the coach? Will he or she strengthen my child's morals by enforcing fair rules and practices? These are the main points that first come to mind when allowing my child to take part in group sports. These SHOULD be the only points that need to be thought of.

Congratulations to all of you, who completed the BBNZ Level 1 Referee course. The NOBA wishes you all continue to enjoy the game of basketball and work hard to develop as a competence officials.

The National U13 Tournament will remain in Christchurch and will take place 4-8 October at QEII and Colwes as scheduled. We look forward to hosting the 30 teams from around NZ and enjoying some exciting up and coming talent competing here. Thank you to all those associations who have committed to coming to Christchurch at this time. Be assured things are getting back to some normality and the city is in good spirit.

Basketball New Zealand regional referee officer and NBL official James Campion will conduct a series of BBNZ level one referee courses in Timaru

Miniball Finals & Prize Giving- 31st August
Senior Finals & Prize Giving- 6th September
Collegiate & Intermediate Finals/ Prize Giving- 8th September

The up coming Network Waitaki Development Tournament will take place 9th-11th July at Recreation Centre Oamaru as scheduled. We look forward to hosting the 14 teams from around SouthIsland and enjoying some exciting up and coming talent competing here. national level. Cluster Camps are the entry point for the BBNZ programmes and are for ‘identified’ athletes only. The second
Cluster Camp for 2010 will take place on Saturday 15th or Sunday 16th of May. It will involve both the U15s & U17s.

Due to heavy rain weather & flood warnings, Round 3 Miniball competition had been cancelled & all games will reschedule into following week.

The 2010 Network Waitaki Y7 & 8 Development Tournament is to be held from the 9th -11th July.
The tournament is aimed at assisting Y7 & 8 players’ skills and attitudes, giving experience to administrators and opportunities and encouragement to referees.
