WELCOME

I would like to welcome you all to the Bendigo Basketball Association's 2009 Winter season.  Games have commenced and the season has started, with 152 games a week and over 300 teams participating. 

If your team wishes to move up or down a division can all grading requests pelase be placed to the Sports Office by the 8th of May. The normal Domestic season will be played until Friday August 28th 2009. Finals starting August 31st 2009 and finishing on September 18th 2009. The 2009/10 Summer season will begin on Monday the 5th of October 2009. Cut off date for team entry for the summer season is Friday 18th September 2009. Any entries after this date will not be accepted.

Fixtures do change due to various unavoidable circumstances (such as teams withdrawing, moving divisions, forfeits and the like), so please check your fixtures online regularly, or check with the Sports Office.



NEW BOARD MEMBERS

On Wednesday the 19th of August the Bendigo Basketball Association held their AGM. As a result of this the BBA has 3 new board members. We would like to welcome Terri Brawn, Marg Brohm and Gary Dumaresq to the board. We would also like to thank Peter Allan and Don Couslon for their contribution to the board and the countless hours of work that they have put in over the years.



FINALS ELIGIBILITY

Players must have played 7 games in order to qualify for finals. A bye does not count as a game played. Please make sure that your name is printed on the score sheet. If your name is not pritned on the score sheet you may not qualify. 

BIDDY BALL

Biddy Ball is for children aged 4-8 years old.  We run Biddy Ball on every Monday & Tuesday from 4-5pm on Court 4.  It costs only $2 to attend a session and the concept is to introduce children to basketball and to give children a fun and confidence building experience on a basketball court, all with no pressure.                                                                                                      

REGISTRATION WEEK!

The week beginning Monday 24th of August marks our first registration week. The aim of registration week is to get all players who will be plying next season to come and pay their player registration fee which is $26. The registration will run out of the old sports office and will be open from 5:00pm until 8:30pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. So please come in and get you registration paid up for the next season.



PLAYER INSURANCE

As of the begginging on the 2009/10 Summer season we will have a new Insurance policy. As you are aware Basketball Australia hae raised insurance by $1 and the fee is now $26 per person. The BBA will be collecting this $26 per person up front from each player before the beggining of the Summer Season. This will cover the player for the entire year (until October 2010) due to this game fees will be reduced by $1. More information wil be sent out regarding this change in the very enar future. 

JUNIOR SQUAD TRYOUT TIMES & DATES

Tryouts for the Junior Squad program will be held on Sundays. The dates being the 16th, 23rd & 30th of August.

U14&U16 Boys and Girls will have an extra session on Thursday the 27th of August up on courts 6 & 7, the U14's will train at 6pm and the U16's will train at 7:15pm

U16 Girls (on the 23rd of August 3pm) 30th August 12pm
