Summer Domestic Competition
The summer junior competition will commence on Tuesday, October 15, with the timetables below. Until player numbers are known, all matches are to be held at the stadium at the Seymour Sports and Aquatic Centre.
Under-9 born 2005/06 commence at 4.30 pm.
Under-11 born 2003/04 commence at 5.30 pm.
Under-13 born 2001/02 commence at 6.30 pm.
All other age groups commence at 7.30 pm.
As always, parents are required to score during the game and those interested in coaching can notify committee members grading players over the next two weeks.
Junior Skills Training
The popular Thursday evening skills training, open to all age groups, will return on Thursday, October 17, from 5 pm to 6 pm at the stadium.
This is a new program to help all junior players improve their skill levels, and has been well received. Parents are encouraged to get involved and learn how to support their children with their skills development. They can also gain tips on how to coach domestic matches.
Referee Hannah McLarty was ranked among the top five referees at the recent Echuca Under-12 Jamboree, and the best female referee. Congratulations to her!
The association is always on the look-out for players interested in expanding their skills through the referee program. For more information, contact Gerry O’Rourke.
Junior Blasters Update
All teams should have received their polos, jumpers, bags and hand towels; and uniforms are currently being allocated.
The tournament season will start in Swan Hill, October 26 and 27, and we wish all our teams the best for the new season.
Senior Blaster Update
Senior men have their first game – a home game - on Saturday, October 19, at 7 pm at the stadium. Come out and support the men and welcome our new major sponsor Seymour Nissan, which has come on board with a $2000 donation.
New Scoring System
Electronic scoring at junior domestic games will soon commence, as per the requirements of Basketball Victoria Country. The association has recently purchased laptops by which scores will be instructed to enter game results. The aim is to have detailed scores posted on the SportingPulse website and provide players with a comprehensive report of the statistics for each season.
