A great big thank you goes out to Owain Jordan of Enviroblast for all his hard work grinding and painting the section of concrete on the far side of court 1. Owain spent most of Saturday and a large percentage of Sunday the 20th and 21st of April doing this painstaking, backbreaking work.

Paul Hausia has agreed to come on board as our Multi-sports Co-ordinator and Development Officer. Paul comes from and extensive sporting background as well as impressive management experience. We look forward to great changes within the centre.

Northern Lifestyle Sports Floors will begin work on the courts on Wednesday the 3rd of April and will need until the 17th of April to complete work on both courts. We are going back to games again as of the 23rd of April due to curing time to be allowed for the floors to harden sufficiently. Looking forward to coming back to a new and improved facility.

Last week Greg Byers, Shaun Johnston and Craig (Boof) Hodgetts put in a hard day doing the undercoating on court 1. I am all sure you agree that that has made a huge difference in the apprearance of the building. We should have all the painting completed about the same time as the floors are refurbished. What a great way to restart the season. Thanks boys for all your hard work.

Work has started on getting the courts refurbished.
A concrete slap has been put in front of both doors on the east side of the building to help slow down any water that may build up outside these doors.
We would also like to express a big thank you to Andrew Killip for donating his time and equipment to digging a ditch outside the same doors to help divert any water that comes down the slope.

2PH Volleyball and 2PH Table Tennis season has started
Come down with your team or on your own Friday Nights from 6pm
There will be 2 tables for the serious players and 2 tables for the social players.

David Scott of Mount Isa Paint and Decor is donating the paint to cover the walls on the north and south side of the interior of the stadium, he is also going to have the cement on the far side of Court 1 painted to reduce the amount of cement dust on the courts.
David and his son Josh are regulars at the stadium involved in Futsal, Basketball, Table Tennis and Volleyball.

Xstrata has agreed to fund the resurfacing and remarking of the wooden competition court and remark the blue court.
This will bring us into line with the current regulation markings for both Basketball and Vollleyball.
Work will commence at the beginning of April and will take approximately a week.

Due to the increased usage of the Stadium the association has contacted some of the schools in the area to find alternatives. If you would like to access courts at any of the schools contact the school in writing, addressed to the Principal stating your intent, times and people who will be accessing the grounds as well as contact information. The Mount Isa Basketball Stadium was fortunate to receive a grant of $1000 worth of shrubs and trees to beautify the grounds and to provide much needed shade areas in the future.
We were also awarded a $2000 grant to assist with the costs of providing a much anticipated play ground area for the children of our members and other users of the facility.

The Mount Isa Stadium hosted approximately 40 campers of all types during the Rodeo weekend. They were unable to find accomodation at any of the regular venues. Comments back were very encouraging and after a few little hiccups the weekend went without a hitch. Our last visitors left Tuesday morning. Thanks to Andrew Preston, Lloyd Isaacson, and The Hodgett family.

Hi everyone. The new season will start up again on Tuesday 10th July with registrations being taken from Wednesday 4th July between 5 and 7 pm as well as Thursday and Friday that week and then again on the Monday 9th of July. You will be notified of final dates and other dates of interest as they are sorted so watch this space for further updates

Wow! What an awesome end to the winter season. Grand finals played on Saturday the 16th of June really showed what our teams can do.

During their recent visit appearing at the Xstrata Mining Expo, three high profile Taipans took some time out,shot a few hoops and gave a few tips to our Junior Representative Team. Zac Hodgetts and Joel Glasscock were two players who were majorly impressed and took on board the advice of the professional sportsmen.

During the recent visit to Mount Isa by the Skytrans Cairns Taipans, Skytrans Community Development Manager Billy Gordan signed a Sponsorship Agreement with Association President Lloyd Issacson. Billy has indicated that the Skytrans Cairns Taipans are very interested in becoming more involved with the Mount Isa Basketball Association in the future.

Dwayne Vale, ex local boy and player for the Skytrans Cairns Taipans, came to the stadium Tuesday afternoon and held a junior Basketball Clinic for children of Mount Isa aged 6 to 18. They all had a great afternoon learning some new skills from the pro.

Security cameras have bewen added to the stadium on Sunday the 13th of May by Martin Carland of Carland Securities. While all that was happening the committee got stuck in and sunk the irrigation for the sprinkler system and made some pretty awesome changes in the bar. So next time your in come and check it all out.

The Mount Isa under 18's have left this afternoon 2/5/2012 to take on the best that the State has to offer. They will be travelling courtesy of our sponsors Campblell's buses and Industrea who have generously sponsored the trip along with Realway Property Consultants. Thanks again guys.

Raffle tickets will be issued to all members this week to raise money for the next step in the upgrades of the Mount Isa Sport and Recreation centre and also to raise funds to allow us to send more teams away to compete in competitions around the state.
Tickets are $5.00 each and money raised and left over tickets must be returned by the 9th of June. Please see Anita for more details.

Many of you must have noticed a lot of activity not only inside the complex but also with major clean up operations going on outside the building. This is all thanks to a Work Experience Program run by Isa Skills.
Joe, James and their boys have done an amazing job. The stadium is really transforming into something special. Thank you.

Wow, the fans arrived and a little over a week later they are up and making a huge difference to the circulation in the stadium. So far only a couple of teams have felt the difference during training.
Just another way we are moving ahead and making this a bigger and better place to play our chosen sport.
