AFL Victoria is pleased to announce Cottons as the naming rights partner to the Victorian Women’s Football League Finals Series for 2014.
Cottons, an Australian based company with an international brand focused on all natural female hygiene products, will show their support at the business end of the season with the VWFL finals to begin on Sunday August 17 across six divisions.
VWFL Competitions Manager Darren Flanigan said the growth of the competition is now attracting the involvement of more off field partnerships.
“The development of the competition and the growth of women's football are helping attract brands that want to be associated with the high standard that is now produced.
“It is great that Cottons is showing their support for women’s football, and we hope it is the start of a long relationship with the brand.
“They join Melbourne FC and CFA as partners of the VWFL, so it is pleasing to see these brands now linked with the competition.”
A number of the players that featured in the AFL Women’s Exhibition match in June will be on show come finals time, with the likes of Daisy Pearce, Aasta O’Connor, Emma Kearney and Katie Brennan all set to be part of the finals action.
“We encourage anyone that has not seen a women's match to come along to the Cottons VWFL Final Series to see the best teams and talent go head to head,” Flanigan said.
Cottons Sales and Marketing Director Richard Arbon said his company saw many positives with partnering with the VWFL.
"Cottons is very proud and excited to support the VWFL 2014 Finals Series, particularly at a time when the competition is finding new impetus under the guidance of AFL Victoria.
“We believe there are some fantastic synergies between the fast growing sport of women’s footy and Cottons, a brand focused on natural and healthy choices for women."
The top four teams in each division will compete in the Cottons VWFL Finals Series this year, with 24 teams participating in the finals – up from 21 in 2013.
The venues for the 2014 Cottons VWFL Finals Series will be released in coming weeks, with the culmination of the season being the Premier, Division One and Division Two Grand Final day on Sunday September 7 at Piranha Park (Coburg City Oval).
