Jen Plumb from the St Kilda Sharks is a perfect example of the developing pathway in women’s football.
A former Youth Girls player, VWFL premiership player with St Albans and most recently a Division 1 premiership player with St Kilda, Plumb still lends a hand at Youth Girls level as a trainer and helps mentor the next generation of players at the Sharks.
Plumb’s ability to be involved not only for her club but her league has seen her receive the August nomination for the Melbourne FC VWFL Player of the Year award.
Her involvement goes beyond Youth Girls and the VWFL, having been involved as a trainer and selector with Schools Sport Victoria. She is also the trainer for the Youth Girls Vic Metro Academy.
St Kilda President Keryn Ralph said she is a shining example of a true club person.
“Jen is always going above and beyond at club and league level.
“She has been a consistent support of the Youth Girls in her role as Trainer and has also taken on a mentor role within the Sharks for the younger players.”
Her various roles are just some of the reasons she is the August nomination for the Melbourne FC VWFL Player of the Year award.
The VWFL Player of the Year award is run in conjunction with the Melbourne Football Club and it seeks to highlight the positive contributions made by women to enhance the women’s game. The nominated players work tirelessly on or off the field to promote women’s football and to build long lasting connections with their communities.
The overall winner will be announced at the VWFL end of year presentation evening next Wednesday.
