Ryan Burns reports on a fantastic visit to Kiribati

Ryan’s development visit coincided with the Kiribati ‘Te Runga’ National Games that are held every 2 years. This allowed for some preparation with referees and coaches to be undertaken before the games including a referee training course with 20 officials and a coaching discussion session with 7 coaches in attendance. In addition to this Ryan also visited the local schools to conduct some basketball clinics with the children of Kiribati.

Kiribati have a National Basketball Development Officer (NBDO) Mr. Iotia Paul who is supported by FIBA Oceania. Iotia is doing excellent work with the youth of Kiribati by engaging the schools and conducting junior basketball competitions. He has been in the position for over a year now and is providing valuable services to the basketball community.
