KBF President passes away
It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I inform you of the untimely passing of Mr. Atino Baraniko the President of the Kiribati Basketball Federation (KBF). Mr. Baraniko passed away early this morning after a battle with a mysterious illness that took his life suddenly.
Mr. Baraniko a young man in his late twenties was still in his competitive prime and had just started his involvement at an administration level with the KBF in March, 2011 when he was elected as President of the Federation. He showed signs of a promising leader which unfortunately has been cut short.
The KBF Executives will be attending the family function and service on behalf of all basketball players in Kiribati. His body will be laid to rest near his family home in Betio, Tarawa on Wednesday the 21st of September, 2011.
Our prayers and thoughts are with his family during this sad and trying time. Atino will be solely missed by the basketball as well as the sporting community in Kiribati.
He leaves behind a wife and three children.
