29th Independence Anniversary Champioship, 2008
The Kiribati Basketball Federation held its official opening last saturday the 17th of May 2008 at the Bairiki Court commencing at 1100hrs in the morning. During the official opening, it was noticed to be more than 100 players made an effort that day to attend and witness the most important event.
The program started at 1130am with a warm greeting from the Master Of Ceremony Mr. Kautu Temakei followed by an welcome remarks by the President of the Federation Mr. Naunta.Taatu. THe President also requested the members that the opening will coincide with the Federation's Annual General Meeting for this year 2008.
The represetative from PUNJAS the company who sponsored the sport and the competition convey its speech to all members and declare the opening of the competition with peace and prosperity.
The first kick off started straight after the AGM.
The day ended at 1830hrs in the afternoon. The league will run in two months time targeted to be finished before the actual date of the ceremony the 12th of july 2008 where finalists will be competing.
