League Women –Warriors v Ansett
Kate Smythe (5ppg) hit the last three baskets for the Warriors as they held off Ansett 52-51 in a nail biting finish to their game Saturday night at the DBA Stadium. The Warriors had built up a 30-14 lead at half time thanks to the hot shooting Nyssa Curwen (8ppg) who finished up game high scorer with a season high 24 points. The Blues didn’t lie down however, as they piled on 16 points to 9 in the third quarter to creep within 9 at 39-30 entering the last quarter of play. Lauren Flanegan (16 @ 8.6ppg including 4 treys) lit up the scoreboard with a trio of three pointers as the Blues gave chase, but the effort fell just short with the Warriors hanging on for just their third win of the season. Amelia Shanahan also hit double figures for the Blues with 14. The loss by the Blues means they have to win against the Warriors in the last minor round game in order to make the final four. Assuming, of course, that Lightning lose their final two games of the season vs the Rebels & Jets.
Lightning v Tracy Village Jets
The Tracy Village Jets dismissed Lightning 74-31 to win the Challenge Season minor premiership. The Jets are chasing their fourth Challenge Season Grand Final title. The defending Challenge Season champs held nothing back as they piled on the points for their 15th win of the competition. Lightning had no answers for the more experienced Bombers in this game, falling behind 20-6 after one quarter of play and then failing to respond to the challenge. Sam Rioli (16.4ppg) and Georgii Howlett (18.2ppg) went on a scoring spree, scoring 20 each with support from Sharnie Morris who put up 10. Chelsea Cook (10.5ppg) led the Lightning with 12. Presently the Lightning are just hanging on to a playoff berth. They are tied with Ansett on wins, but hold the edge in meetings during the season. They have to rely on the Warriors to beat the Blues in the last round to stay in the playoffs.
Eagles v Uni Rebels

League Men –Tracy Village Jets v Warriors
The Tracy Village Jets swamped the undermanned Warriors with a massive 125-49 win that pretty much assures them of the minor premiership barring any unseen hiccups in the last two rounds. The Jets are looking to add another Challenge Season championship to their already impressive tally of 11 since 1976! Six players hit double figures with Travis Ellis (26.1ppg) leading the way with 28, Aaron Simpson 24, Liam MacLachlan & Brad East 14 each and Jake Geer & Jett Sukcharoen 11 each. A 20-8 first quarter run set the stage for the Bomber strike and although the Warriors staged a bit of a comeback in the second quarter they still trailed 47-25 at the half. It just got worse after the break as the Bombers went off on another run…this one 32-8 that put the game away. Only five players suited up for the Warriors and Rob Oliver (9.2ppg) took scoring honors with a season high 27 followed by Tendayi Muyambi (7.7ppg) who hit 16.
Eagles v Lightning
Charles Benning (29ppg) & Buster Perkins (21.3ppg) teamed up with 30 points each to lead the Eagles to a 92-60 win over Lightning. The two sides battled it out in the first half with the Eagles holding a slim 44-42 lead at the major break. However, the game swung completely in favour of the Birds after the break. The third quarter proved to be the end for Lightning as Joseph Johnson (20.9ppg) joined in the scoring effort of Benning and Perkins to lead the Eagles on a huge 20-4 run that left Lightning wondering who put the cover on the hoop. The Eagles shut down Lightning’s prolific scorer Jesse Bell (20.7ppg) in that third quarter, but he still hit 25 for the game with Cameron Bailey (17.9ppg) adding 13 in support. Lightning will have to regroup quickly as they play the Eagles again next week and more than likely will play them in the sudden death semi final in three weeks time.
Uni Rebels v Ansett
Ansett won 20-0 on a forfeit by Uni Rebels
