THE TEAM AND PLAYERS

  • Each team must have no less than ten and no more than twelve players.
  • Players selected in the team must be registered and financial with NHVC.
  • Players may be dropped from the team for non-compliance with training requirements including non-attendance or behavioural issues.
  • The selection panel has the right to co-opt or remove players from the team following selection, provided that there is a valid reason for doing so and provided that the team does not have more than twelve players and NHVC is informed through the Manager.
  • Players must attend all trials, except in the case of extenuating circumstances which must be relayed to the selection panel prior to the trial.
  • Players must achieve a high standard of general skills, fitness and court play.
  • Players must be available to participate in all tournaments.

 SELECTION PANEL

  • The selection panel will consist of the coach and two or three independent selectors appointed by the Executive.
  • The selection of the team will be the collective decision of all members of the selection panel. If a collective decision can not be made the coach will have the deciding “vote”.
  • The selection panel must take every care to be fair, independent and professional, and make strenuous efforts to ensure that all players have a genuine opportunity to show their best skills to the selectors.

TRIALS

  • At the first trial, players will be given a time line of trials and the schedule of trainings and games confirmed at that time. Players not able to commit to all tournaments will not be considered for selection, except in extenuating circumstances.
  • Players will also be informed of the process for trials and how the announcement of the team is to be made.
  • Each trial shall consist of a structured warm up, including drills that will enable trialists to display their skills.
  • Each trialist is to receive at least two trials of at least 10 minutes long.
  • No player is to be given any indication that she has a position in the team prior to trials or prior to the announcement of the team.
  • Trialists must be given an opportunity to trial in their chosen position.
  • If a player is unable to attend trials for a valid reason, the selection panel may select the player for a team.
  • The selection panel may tell players who are clearly not in the running for a team not to attend subsequent trials.
  • Appropriate level umpires should be sought to control trial games.
  • A maximum of three trials to be held prior to final selection.
  • All selection information to be collated at the end of the trial period and handed to Netball Hutt Valley Centre Manager and destroyed at the end of the season.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF TEAMS

The team will be announced by NHVC (not the coach or manager) within two days of the final trial.
