Winter competition numbers increase again

This is up 10 teams from the previous season, and goes to show what can happen with keen parents and teachers work together. The three largest participant schools in the Saturday competition are Kororo, Mary Help of Christians and St Augustines, and they now all have Basketball committees working in conjunction with the school staff.  This method of organisation has proven highly successful, and we would encourage other schools to work towards the same system if possible.

A special welcome to the Narranga year 3 & 4 boy's team, the only Narranga team in the competition. We are delighted to have a Narranga team join the competition, and hope this might be followed by more teams next year.

The team numbers in the Saturday competition are: Kororo leads the count with 16 teams, MHOC and St Augustines both have 15, BDC have 12 teams, CCS have 7, St Francis Xavier from Woolgoolga are to be congratulated for having grown to 6 teams, while Sawtell and Sandy Beach both have 3 teams.  Toormina, Bonville, Boambee and Tyalla each have 2 teams, with Woolgoolga, Coffs, Narranga and Karangi each nominating 1 team.

66 teams participate in the high school competition, which is played on Monday and Friday afternoons.  Team numbers for these competitions are: JPC with 19 teams, Bishop Druitt College with 13, Toormina High with 10 teams, Jetty and Orara both have 6 teams, Christian Community have 5 teams, Woolgoolga high have 3 and Bellingen High school has 2 teams participating.

Adding to those numbers are 31 senior teams, giving us a total of 186 teams.  Best of luck to all teams during the season, and we hope you enjoy your basketball.
