The basketball competition is being played in a brand new 2 court stadium, with seating capacity for 2,000 people.  The stands are always full, expecially when Samoa are playing.  The noise and singing is incredible - everyone is so keen for their teams to win.

Many of the players here in Samoa were in Coffs Harbour in 2004 for the FIBA Oceania Youth Tournament, and they all have very happy memories of that time. Many have asked how Coffs Basketball is going, and asked me to say 'hello' to everyone in Coffs.

The SPG's are held every 4 years, with 33 sports being contested. The basketball competition has 17 teams representing 11 countries. Fiji women look like the gold medalists, with their 2 star players returning from USA where they are on College Basketball scholarships.

In the men's competition, there is no team standing out yet.
