Triple premiership player Mal Michael will make his international debut when he runs on for Papua New Guinea in AFL Cairns pre-season cup competition at Cazalys today.
Michael was key defender in Brisbane’s 2001-03 premiership era and is a national icon in PNG.
He has never played for his home country but will rectify that when he runs on against Port Douglas this afternoon.
The team will play a practice match against North Cairns on Wednesday at Cazalys and will feature in a curtain-raiser before the pre-season final next week if it fails to qualify for the decider.
