The Port Douglas juggernaut gathered more momentum on Saturday, with the Cairns City Cobras the latest side flattened by the undefeated AFL Cairns ladder leaders.
It was cane toad versus truck tyre in the tourist paradise as the Crocs produced arguably their most ruthless performance of the season to win 28.11-179 to 5.5-35.
Sam Boxall was the biggest contributor to the Crocs imposing score.
In a side that also boasts noted stick splitters Craig Shaw, Matt Shaw and Paul Minchington, Boxall dominated the forward 50m to finish with eight majors.
Crocs coach Andy Voila was happy to keep Cobras scoreless in the first quarter.
“Our starts is one of the things we’ve really been working on,” he said.
“We still have little lapses like in the second quarter. While we won it on the scoreboard, I thought we were outplayed on the field.
“But I was really happy with the way the players responded to the challenge.
“One of our strengths is that we’ve got good depth and people are playing for their spots every week.”
In a tough afternoon for the Cobras, Patrick Bass finished with two goals, white Heath Jarred was his sides best.
At Fretwell Park, North Cairns stayed in the hunt for a top four finish with a convincing 21.17-143 to 9.6-60 victory against Souths.
It was the Tigers fourth win of the season and leaves them eight points behind fourth-placed Manunda Hawks.
The Cutters, who sit bottom of the ladder, lost five front lane footballers to injury. Michael lane (knee) and Matthew Werner (hip flexor) shape as the most serious.
Jesse batten kicked five goals for the Tigers.
