PORT Douglas captain Evan Hocking has urged his teammates to remember what made them so good this year ahead of today's AFL Cairns Grand
Final against Cairns Saints at Cazalys.
The Crocs were more tyrant than football team in the competition rounds, flogging rival sides and ruling the league with an iron boot as they qualified for September without a loss.
They seemed invincible before Saints beat them in the first week of finals.
The defeat could have inspired panic in the Crocs, but Hocking said the Crocs were smart enough to avoid that.
"What we did during the year got us to where we are and we can’t forget that," he said.
"Now it’s just a matter of lifting it 10, 15 or 20 per cent, whatever it takes to be successful on the day.
"I know a lot of the boys were pretty gutted by that loss a couple of weeks ago. We knew if we got through to the final we’d be playing Saints, so I guess it does add that extra bit of motivation to do what we need to do."
Hocking, who lines up in the Crocs’ back six today, said his club was not feeling too much pressure.
"There’s been kind of an excited, nervous sort of energy around the place," he said.
