It will be about restoring pride in the South Cutters jersey when the team walks on to Fretwell Park tomorrow. A miserable 92-point loss to Centrals Trinity last weekend, in which Souths only managed three majors, quickly cleared out any wind that may have been in the Cutters’ sails.
But they have done their best to forget that game and coach Chris Adams says they will march out against Port Douglas with heads held high tomorrow.
“We’ll be going out there to win. The onus is on the guys to show the club and the members that we do have pride at South Cairns Cutters,” he said. “We won’t go reinventing the wheel, we just need to show some fight and character.”
The Cutters have been competitive all season but Adams said last week’s result had shown them where they were at.
“We’ve come up against some injury-depleted teams a few times but this was a team at full strength and it showed us where we were at,” he said.
