An action packed week is on offer for AFL fans as AFL Comes Alive in Cairns. The full program of events is as follows:

Two players from Gold Coast SUNS visit a local high school and speak with students in preparation for the North Queensland Secondary Schools Cup. This new competition will feature 11 secondary schools from the very top of Cape York to Cairns, Townsville and Mackay. The schools are: Tagai College, Mossman High, Trinity Bay State High, St Augustine’s College, Smithfield State High, Djarragun College, Bentley Park College, Cairns State High, Shalom College and Kirwin State High from Mackay and Proserpine State High.

No Boundaries Partnership Program in the Cape, with Gold Coast SUNS players, Government and senior AFL staff spending two days in Bamaga visiting schools, running clinics and speaking to assemblies. They will meet with the NPARC councillors at New Mapoon Council Chambers and attend a No School, No Play carnival for Under 13s and Under 16s teams at New Mapoon Oval, followed by a community BBQ.
In Cairns, the North Queensland Secondary Schools Cup begins at Watsons Oval at 12:30pm. An official opening will commence proceedings, with round robin matches throughout the afternoon to follow.

No Boundaries Partnerships Program continues in the Cape, whilst North Queensland Secondary Schools Cup continues at Watsons Oval, with matches today from 9:30am to 5:00pm.
Also at Watsons Oval, the Try-A-Trade Expo will take place, with the North Queensland Schools Cup players partaking.
FRIDAY, 15 JULY 2011
The North Queensland Secondary Schools Cup Semi Finals will be played at Watsons Oval.
At 2:30pm Richmond Football Club will train at Cazalys Stadium. This session is open to the public to attend to watch.
At 3:30 to 5:00pm, there will be a FREE Super Clinic at Cazalys Stadium, which will feature a variety of skills stations, including hand ball, kicking, tackling and marking drills, along with goal kicking practise, coordinated by AFL Cairns, AFL Queensland and Gold Coast SUNS Development staff. The AFL Playground will be set up, which includes inflatable handball targets, a ‘specky’ marking enclosure and tackling activity, along with the kicking radar to measure the speed of your kick! Both Richmond and Gold Coast players will sign autographs at the Super Clinic – Richmond players 3:30pm to 4:00pm and Gold Coast players 4:15 to 4:45pm. Sea FM will broadcast live from Cazalys Stadium from 1:00pm to 4:00pm and Sport & Recreation Services Queensland will be providing participants will a FREE healthy BBQ. Merchandise from both Clubs will be available to purchase at the Super Clinic. Please note: there will be NO parking available in the Cazalys Stadium precinct, with attendees required to park outside the grounds and enter the stadium via the main Tills Street gates on foot.
Richmond Football Club, in conjunction with North Cairns Tigers Australian Football & Sporting Club, will host a Pre-Game function at North Cairns Tigers Club Rooms, Behan Street, Manunda commencing at 7:00pm. Bookings are essential and tickets are just $20 and available by phoning 1300 RICHMOND (742 466). The function, hosted by Dale ‘Flea’ Weightman, will feature 1980 Premiership hero’s Michael ‘Disco’ Roach and Jimmy ‘Ghost’ Jess.
