Three goals in three minutes in the fourth quarter have powered the Gold Coast Suns to a famous victory against the Richmond Tigers in Cairns. The Gold Coast Suns have registered their third win of the AFL season with a courageous 15-point win over Richmond at Cazaly's Stadium in Cairns today.
The Suns trailed by 13 points at the last change but powered home with the breeze to win 12.13 (85) to 9.16 (70) in front of 10,832 rowdy north Queenslanders.
Young gun David Swallow was best on ground with 24 possessions and two goals in outstanding midfield performance.
Jared Brennan was not to be outdone with three goals, including two in the final term, to prove a match winner.
Skipper Gary Ablett was his usual productive self with 27 disposals while Danny Stanley also kicked three goals.
At half time the Gold Coast had kept Richmond quiet to take a 3-point lead in the match at Cazaly's Stadium in Cairns.
The Suns looked shot in the first quarter when the Tigers powered to a five goal lead. But a three-goal burst from Gold Coast youngster Danny Stanley had the Suns 3-points up at half-time 7.6 (48) to 6.9 (45).
