Centrals Trinity Bulldogs coach Tyson Lane admits he isn’t sure how the Manunda Hawks will respond to their first loss in almost four months of football last weekend. The Hawks maintained top spot on the Cairns AFL ladder, despite having their 12-game winning streak snapped after suffering their second loss of the season at the hands of the reigning premiers Cairns Saints.
Lane confessed he was wary of a Hawks outfit looking to reassert their dominance tomorrow against his Bulldogs.
“It could go two ways for them,” Lane said. “They haven’t lost in a while (since round two) so it will be interesting to see how they react to it.”
The Bulldogs had the bye last week, and Lane said his players would be in prime condition for the clash.
“It was good to have the bye and go into this match fresh in the legs, and fresh in the mind,” he said.
In preparation for tomorrow’s clash, Lane was an onlooker in the stands as the Saints caused the upset of the season, gut it didn’t help in trying to single out any of the Hawks for extra attention.
“They’ve got so many quality players,” he said. “They’ve got class on every line, and they’ll be raring to go after that loss. They’re an awesome team – the most talented list in the competition.”
The trip to Griffiths Park to watch the Saints overrun the Hawks did have some benefit, though.
“I think there are a couple of areas where we can expose them,” Lane said.
