Outgoing South Cairns coach Chris Adams hopes the positive steps forward this season are not lost in another submissive performance tonight against Manunda Hawks at Cazalys starting at 8pm.
The Cutters were pummelled by Saints 27.17 (179) to 3.11 (29) last weekend, in what Adams described as a “bloddy disappointing” display.
The first-year coach will almost certainly leave the club after the weekend, with the committee already advertising for a new head coach for the 2012 season. But he wants to leave on a high note and not spend the off-season lamenting the way their campaign finished.
“You don’t want to be stewing for six months (in the off-season) – it is a long time to be bitter,” he said. “I don’t know how to explain last week’s effort but it’d be a real shame to put out another performance like that and finish that way.”
