Cairns Saints watched on as their grand final opponent was decided yesterday and while they were never going to say it, they must have liked what they saw. A week after annihilating Manunda by nearly 100 points, they discovered they would play them again for a chance to clinch their fourth straight AFL Cairns premiership.
And Port Douglas coach Andy Viola, who saw his side bow out on Saturday, is predicting Saints will be very hard to beat.
“I hope Manunda put up a fight but I just think Saints have got them covered,” Viola said. “Without being too critical, I don’t think their structures are solid enough.”
Manunda coach Paul Griffiths is just focusing on the task ahead.
“I’m glad we’re playing Saints. We didn’t have a good result against them last time but we’re in it now and that’s all that matter,” he said.
