THEY laid a duck egg last week and have the unbeaten premiers coming up today but Centrals Trinity Beach Bulldogs have nothing to fear, according to playing president Jacqui Rowlands.
Last year's AFL Cairns Women's League grand finalists were dealt a heavy injury blow in week one, contributing to their horror 9.16 (70) to 0.0 (0) loss to Manunda Hawks.
"We were without a lot of our veteran players but it gave some of those younger players an opportunity to step up," Rowlands said.
"That's only going to help us as the season progresses."
The Bulldogs will not rush players back this week to face the Tigers, who have not lost since the final round of the 2010 season.
With just four teams in the competition, each club is guaranteed a finals spot, meaning the Bulldogs can rest players until they're fully fit.
Last year, it was Manunda who qualified second but the Bulldogs upset them in the semi-final before falling to the Tigers.
"We don't want to rush our players back and have them injured at the business end of the season," Rowlands said.
The Bulldogs come up against a North Cairns team that won their opening two games by a combined score of 22.14 (146) to 3.3 (21).
"I know it doesn't look like it by the scores but the league has become a lot closer," Rowlands said.
"There are new girls coming in and the gap between the teams is closing."
In the other game, South Cairns Cutters will chase their first win of the season against Manunda Hawks.
Action starts at Watson's Oval at 3.30pm, with the grand final replay followed immediately by the Hawks-Cutters clash.
