AFLCWL turns Pink for Breast Cancer Support
AFL Cairns Women’s League will be seeing pink at Holloways Beach Sporting Complex on Saturday 2nd February as players compete in the second AFLCWL Pink Footy Day in support of Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA).
3:30pm – South Cairns vs. North Cairns
5:00pm – Manunda Hawks vs. Centrals TB
Pink Footy Day is a chance for sports clubs right across Australia to show their support for, and pay tribute to, women and families from their local community who have been affected by breast cancer.
More than 14,500 Australian women are expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer this year alone. The funds raised through Pink Footy Day are critical to BCNA’s work in ensuring women diagnosed with breast cancer are provided with the very best information, services and support possible.
Sean Hunter, AFL Cairns Operation Manager urged locals to get behind the AFLCWL this weekend.
“AFLCWL Pink Footy Day is great opportunity for the whole community to head down to Holloways Beach Sporting Complex and support not just the teams competing on the day, but to support women and families in the community that have been affected by breast cancer,” Mr Hunter said. “We hope that everyone will wear some pink, get involved and show their true colour - pink!”
There will be activities for all the family from 3:30pm onwards with a charity auction commencing at 7:00pm to raise money for BCNA.
