A determined Centrals Trinity Beach team was not enough to hold off North Cairns endless dominance in the AFL Cairns Women's League, after they executed a 68-point walkover (11.2-68) to (0.0-0) at Watsons Oval on Saturday's round 9 clash. While Centrals were kept scoreless the entire game, Tigers player-coach Jo Butland was quick to praise the third placed team, who applied pressure early on. "We didn't have it all our own way. Centrals tried a few tactics and we probably really didn't kick on until the third quarter," Butland said. "Centrals were pretty competetive for most of the match. They liked to flood our forward line a fair bit of the time.' Butland heaped praise on dynamic half forward Maddison Peeters and hard working midfielder Tarin Moke as the standouts for her team, both girls slotting home four goals each. "She...had to work hard to be the provider on a lot of occasions," Butland said of Peeters. "Tarin just knows where to be. She's a little bit of a goal sneak every now and then." Bulldogs coach Dale Dowson lamented a failure to convert chances as his side's only real weakness, noting the closing points gap each time they faced North Cairns. "The first time we played them we lost by 120 (points), the second time we played them we lost by 87 points and this time we played them, we lost by 68," Dowson said. "I loaded the back line in the last quarter of the game and Norths couldn't handle it. "Physically and pressure wise, we outplayed Norths and we really had them struggling this week." In Saturday's other game, the Manunda Hawks (11.10-76) proved too strong for the South Cairns Cutters (1.3-9).
