Centrals Trinity Beach Bulldogs have promised to "further investigate" allegations that one of their players had her face stood on during Saturday's Cairns Women's AFL match. A Bulldogs player complained that a North Cairns Tigers opponent stepped on her face in the final quarter of the Tigers' 11.8 (74) - 1.1 (7) win at Holloways Beach Sporting Complex. AFL Cairns and North Cairns Tigers have denied the incident took place, but Bulldogs coach Dale Dowson wants to look at any photographs taken at the game. "Our player is adamant it has happened and we are going to further investigate it," Dowson said yesterday. AFL Cairns official Sean Hunter said he had spoken to the umpires from the match and was happy that the incident was unintentional. "It is an alleged incident but it is not true," he said. "The umpire has dealt with it on the field (a 50m penalty) and that's as far as it is going." Tigers captain Jo Butland vouched for her teammate's innocence and said the allegations were disappointing. Saturday's win closed an undefeated season for North Cairns, who also had a perfect record last year. "They are trying to paint the best team in the competition as dirty," she said. "We play good, clean footy and I think we have a good record of not only winning games but playing clean footy." The AFL Cairns veteran warned that off-field grievances could derail the Women's League Competition.
