Manunda and Cairns City Lions will scrap for their first win of the season at Holloways Beach Sporting Complex after both fell short in disappointing opening rounds.
The Hawks could take more positives away than the Lions though considering player-coach Clinton Gribble was quite satisfied with the way his under-sized team slogged it out against Saints.
Forced to field a young side, they did well to stick with Saints and he said by simply maintaining their structure for longer this weekend they will be in good stead.
The Lions had to reassess their progress after a thorough belting at the hands of North Cairns to open their season.
Coach Jason Roe vowed that they would work harder to bridge the gap, particularly with their fitness.
The Lions host Hawks at 3pm tomorrow at Holloways Beach Sporting Complex.
