Centrals Trinity Beach coach Peter Seymour says he isn't interested in results, despite his side's 92-point capitulation to the North Cairns Tigers on Friday night.
While the round 7 loss sees the Bulldogs remain in second-last spot on the AFL Cairns Seniors ladder, Seymour said there were several positives to take away from his team's performance at Crathern Park.
"The scoreline probably was a bit of a different story from what the game was like," he said. "Up until probably the last half or the last quarter, they (Norths) kicked away a bit, but even at three-quarter time there was not a great deal in it."
Seymour praised the attitude of his young but under-strength side, who like the Manunda Hawks last week, went down fighting despite several player absences and early game injuries to midfielder Joe Llewelyn and centre half-forward Tyson Ednie.
"We had a 16-year-old, probably three 17-year-olds playing, it was good," he said. "We've just got to keep playing footy the way we've been playing it. We're learning every week."
But fresh-faced enthusiasm wasn't enough to stop a rampant Tigers outfit, helped along in their conquest of the Bulldogs by a prolific Lukas Ehlich (four goals), Thomas Clough (three goals) and Travis Thorne (three goals).
"The Dogs played a brand of footy just to slow us down, clogging the space up and getting numbers around the footy," Ehlich said.
"It took us a while to get accustomed to that and our polish wasn't quite there."
Ehlich said the Tigers would have to re-focus their intensity by being "switched on" from start to finish if they were to retain their position at the top of the ladder.
"We want to play four quarters of footy and it's only been couple of times this year that we have," he said.
"It's just that frame of mind and not going out there thinking it's all going to happen. "We've just got to get more ferocious every week because we're going to be hunted now."
In the weekend's other games, a much-needed boost of interstate fire power helped the Manunda Hawks overcome the South Cairns Cutters 17.7-109 to 11.9-75, while the Cairns Saints 10.12-72 couldn't match the Port Douglas Crocs 13.7-85 at home.
