Key Saints defender Craig Ferrier hopes to be back on the paddock in a fortnight, ending the long wait after a broken foot stopped his season after less than two games.
The co-captain was one of a string of Saints to suffer bone-related injuries, but they are all slowly returning to the ranks as finals loom.
He said it had been a nuisance, particularly with a boot on for so long, but that returning to training had not been too difficult. "Three broken bones in the end, but it hasn't been too bad to start kicking again," he said.
"I've only played one-and-a-half games though, so getting match fitness will be the thing."
In the fullback's absence, the side has placed itself within striking distance of top spot and Ferrier is primed for the battle.
They face one of those strikes, Port Douglas, at home tomorrow in a game Ferrier has labelled one of the biggest of the season.
"They got us up at their place last time so I guess we have to return the favour.
It's the biggest game so far this year I reckon,' he said.
Play begins at 3pm at Griffiths Park.
