If ever there was a weekend for South Cairns to come good, this is it.
The sixth-placed side has not won since round four but still harbour hopes of a finals berth this season.
Tomorrow's clash with Manunda Hawks can be considered a must-win for Souths. A big crowd is expected too, considering the day marks a decade since the club's last senior premiership, the repoening of the Fretwell Park social club and the commemoration of Kris Seivers, who died while playing a reserve grade game for Cutters 10 years ago.
Every season the reserve grade side plays for the Kris Seivers Trophy against Manunda at Fretwell Park.
The seniors will also wear special guernseys to be autioned after the game, with money raised supporting the youth homeless support centre Harold's House.
The guys always play well for the occassion. You can see the numbers swell at training in the lead up. Many of the current side were members of their last premiership, while many more would come out of the woodwork to watch the game.
And in a case of perfect timing, the upstairs bar will reopen after it was gutted by fire in the off-season.
There should be a good crowd there and lots for everyone to do. There will be live music and major raffles.
Manunda are coming off a gritty loss to North Cairns last Friday night, while Souths limped home from Port Douglas.
