Forget about one game at a time, Centrals Trinity Beach are moving towards AFL Cairns finals one ball at a time.
Longstanding Bulldog Baden Crathern said the fifth-placed club had learned not to get too far ahead of itself heading into the final stretch fo the season.
Centrals Trinity Beach looked destined for a finals berth last month before losing to the top two teams in successive matches by a combined margin of 268 points.
The task does not get any easier tonight when an imposing Port Douglas team travels to Trinity Beach.
However, Crathern is confident of an upset. "You can't go into any match thinking you're not going to win," he said. "We've improved a lot from the start of the season and last time we played against them we were within one goal, so you never know."
A win over the Crocs would give the Bulldogs an advantage over fourth placed Manunda Hawks (who are also on 44 points) and South Cairns Cutters (40 points).
Speaking like a true veteran, Crathern insisted his team would have its mind on the taks at hand.
"We're just taking it one game at a time," he said. "As our coach Peter Seymour always says, we've got to play one play at a time.
"If we can do that we might be able to do something special."
