Port Douglas kept pace with Saints in second spot thanks to a tough win against Manunda at Cazalys on Saturday afternoon.
The Hawks, in danger of missing the finals for the first time in at least eight seasons, led by less than a goal after the first and second quarters but were slowly overrun from there.
As has been the case all season, the Crocs shared the goals around, with Kurt Bradshaw and Michael McKeown both kicking three.
Port host ladder-leader North Cairns, where a win would heap the pressure on Saints to hold second place.
