Just an update from the 2013 AFL Queensland U17 Youth Girl State Championships held in Brisbane over the weekend.
We had two sides competing that represented AFLCWL Region; North Queensland Lions and AFLCY Crusaders. These girls have either played in AFLCJ U16’s Girls Competition or AFLCWL. There were also several AFLCWL Senior Players involved in coaching/administering these sides.
From a North Queensland Lions Perspective:
Gold Coast Sunsets 7.7-49 def. NQ Lions 1.3-9
NQ Lions 6.11-47 def. Capricornia Cobras 2.1-13
From a AFLCY Crusaders Perspective:
Sunshine Coast Storm 9.3-57 def. AFLCY Crusaders 2.1-13
AFLCY Crusaders 7.11-53 def. PNG Kurukums 4.2-26
NQ Lions took on AFLCY Crusaders in the battle for 5th spot on Day three, with AFLCY Crusaders too strong 9.6-60 def. NQ Lions 5.1-31.
This year, for the first time each region nominated their own MVP for the Championships. Elisha King was named NQ Lions MVP for the Championships, while for AFLCY Crusaders Sherita Pilot was named MVP.
The U18 QLD State Side will be named in the coming weeks.
Well done to all involved.
