Manunda co-captain Fred Pittorino says his side must keep the faith despite another hefty loss in round two, against Saints at Cazalys on Saturday night.
The Hawks were competitive against the Bulldogs lat weekend and it was much the same against champions Saints despite them falling 16.9(105) to 8.7(55).
Pittorino, nursing a sore jaw he initially thought had broken in a collision last weekend, said they let themselves down by conceding runaway goals close to breaks.
"We let them run and when Saints have an overlap they are really good at converting," Pittorino said.
He said it was important the side did not drop their heads despite the scoreline. "They were missing a few gusy, but still had a good side," he said.
"We took it to them and I think most of the guys played better this week than last.
"It's a lot to ask of kids backing up from Colts on Friday night, but they didn't stop running."
Matt Walsh and Alex Macqueen kicked four each for Saints, while Australian schoolboy rep Jack Bowes bagged a senior goal and Glen Martin was among their best.
