The "other" forwards in saints' front line were the benefactors as North Cairns negated perennial golden boot Matt Walsh on Saturday.
Cameron Byrne (four) and Alex Macqueen (three) bagged seven between them in the 15.11(101) to 9.8(62) win at Watsons Oval, while Walsh still booted three among the traffic.
Coming off a 104-point hiding the week before, Norths played with men behind the ball in an attempt to stem the flow.
While Kane Richter and Rhys Bridge did well to contain Walsh, it left the options open around him and Byrne was happy to oblige, contibuting four running goals.
"All game they played a loose man behind play so were able to push up and control it," he said.
"Walshy still played well and took some good grabs and Al kicked a freakish one from the pocket."
Tasmanian trio Tim Lamprill, Jack Philip and Ryan Fielding were all on song while WAFL stalwart Rory Walton was strong in his second game.
Tigers coach Dave Arnfield witnessed a much-improved effort from his side after watching them get destroyed by Port last weekend.
"Much, much, much better, I'm certainly more heartened by what I saw," he said.
The new coach said things had settled down at the club since the change of post.
"I don't think we've ever lost direction, I just think the focus was taken off a bit and we've installed a bit of stability and confidence back in what we're doing."
***It was a hapy weekend for former Saint Brenton Powell, who led his home town of Learmonth to a 51.20(326) to 3.2(20) mauling of Smythesdale in the Central Highlands Football League.
