The special occasions have come thick and fast at Holloways Beach lately and are set to continue this Saturday in the annual Dreamtime By the Sea game between Cairns City Lions and North Cairns.
The two teams boast proud records of producing talented indigenous players and that will be celebrated for the third consecutive season.
The players will wear special strips.
Meanwhile, traditional food, dancers, musicians and a Welcome To Country will be performed in the once-lost Irukandji dialect of Yirrgay by Gavin Singleton.
And the contest will be a good one too, with the Lions gunning for their first win in the clash's short history after showing good form over the past month.
"For this particular year, we have a real chance of winning," coach Marc Harbrow said.
"This year.....all we want to do is play four quarters of footy strongly and win for the supporters at Holloways Beach."
"It's a fairly big initiative and it's something everyone at the club is passionate about."
