Por Douglas' Adam Boone has been named captain of The Cairns Post AFL Cairns Team of the Year, the honarary side to be paraded at tonight's Crathern Medal dinner.
The team of the year was selected by The Cairns Post sports crew, and a handful of AFL experts.
Picked based on their exploits at club and representative level this season, the team boasts some of the competitions best young player and most experienced, with their impact at their respective clubs massive factors in selection.
Aussie rules reporter Murray Wenzel runs through the team.
Rohan Couch has been one of Saints best this season, is ultra consistent and highly-regarded within the club. Rhys Bridge as assumed a big role at the back for the Tigers and done it well, the youngster holding his own against some potent forward this season. Port Douglas are blessed to have Declan Kelly in their backline - he is always amongst their best.
On the half back line you'll bump into one of the most professional players running around in Tiger Kane Richter, and one of the most skilful and lead-by-example in Souths' Billy English. The meat in the sandwich is young gun Jermaine Wardle, who has been a standout for the Cutters.
There's plenty of pace, fearlessness and composure in the middle of the park with Saint Jack Philp calling the shots along with Lions talent Cameron Adam and Cutters linchpin Zac Ewer.
Pushing up a line and the side boasts some heavy artillery in classy Tiger Adam Mueller, inspirational Port leader Adam Boone and star Saints recruit Timothy Lamprill. All three have made a habit of creeping forward and kicking crucial goals for their sides this season.
It is impossible to ignore the feats of goal-kicking duo Paul Smith (Souths) and Matthew Walsh (Saitns) this season, who both had 100-goal seasons.
In a perfect world those two will take marks all day, and if the ball spills Centrals Energiser bunny Clint Guy will be there to crumb. The Bulldog worked tirelessly this season and often in a losing team.
In the ruck you can't beat Manunda's Cameron Duffy, whi is tall, athletic, has good hands and great composure for a lad still developing his craft. Port's Thomas Clough brings the crowds back with his ability to take a screamer, but he does the meat-and-potatoes things well, too. And Rory Walton hes been invaluable for the Saints, who have maintained their standard despite key losses from year's side.
Off the bench is strong and versitle Tiger pick-up Scott Rowe, Lions goal kicker Scott Hughes, irrepressibble Croc Dylan Wearmouth and the man from the Lions with all the moves Duncan Seden.
