After the Round 1 Bye, Port
Douglas began their season in style with a 47 point win over the Cairns City
Cobras at Holloways Beach Sporting Complex.
The win shot the Crocs to the top of the AFL Cairns ladder.
The teams huddled at quarter
time level on the scoreboard at 2.2 (14) a piece but Port kicked away in the
second quarter, adding 5 majors to Cobras 2.
Things were flowing for the Crocs and they continued to increase the
margin on the scoreboard as each break with the fitness of Port Douglas shining
through as the match went on.
Port unveiled much needed
height in their new recruits, with Jeff Smith and Craig Shaw adding to the 6ft
+ brigade.
Cairns City Cobras looked
depleted for personnel and will be pleased to see the arrival of latest recruit
Ben Elves and the availability of other stars after commitments including
weddings.
