A couple of months after unveiling one of the scariest haircuts ever seen on a football field, South Cairns ruckman Andrew Browning is already pondering his next creation.
After walking on the field with a hybrid mullet/buzz cut capable of giving Billy Ray Cyrus nightmares, Browning is biding his time to unleash something different.
"I’ve got to let my hair grow back a bit first," Browning said. "A little bit of it comes down to dares. If people dare me I usually do it."
But it is safe to say Cutters fans will not care what hairstyle Browning adopts as long as his stellar form for the undefeated ladder leaders continues.
Browning has arguably had the biggest impact of all footballers playing their first season in the AFL Cairns this year.
The 22-year-old Bundaberg native was lured to Edmonton from AFLQ side Morningside after playing for Cutters coach Steve Daniel in last year’s championship-winning Queensland team.
"I think it was his positive attitude," Browning said of what made him follow Daniel to the Far North.
"There was no ifs and buts with him. It was always, ‘we’re going to win’, ‘we’re going to do it’, and that’s exactly what we did."
Browning senses a similar determination in the Cutters to win the premiership in 2009 after losing last year’s grand final to the Cairns Saints.
The two sides renew hostilities for the second time this season at Fretwell Park after the Cutters won their first encounter by a comfortable 83 points.
