Centrals Trinity Beach captain Peter Reynolds admits he is surprised the Bulldogs' quest for an AFL Cairns premiership has travelled so smoothly this season.
To date, there have only been two potholes – losses against reigning premiers Cairns Saints and ladder leaders South Cairns in consecutive matches in early May.
But aside from those bumpy moments, the road for the Bulldogs has been smoother than Gary Ablett’s scalp.
Reynolds did not think when the season started the Bulldogs would have only two losses to their name after 18 rounds of football.
"I don’t think anyone really did to be honest," the ruckman said.
"We’ve been lucky to be able to maintain a core group of players and been fortunate with the additions we’ve picked up at the club.
"Everyone is really good mates and we want to play for each other.
"The biggest thing Mick (coach Mick Seymour) has brought to the club is that he has everybody more committed.
"That’s something that’s probably been lacking at Centrals the past few years."
But not anymore. The Bulldogs travel south to Fretwell Park tomorrow for a salivating clash against the Cutters.
