If anyone bets you $20 that you cannot beat Yam Island's Joacob Bob in a sprint, it would be best to nod your head in agreement and hold on to your money.
The 15 year old covered 20m in an impressive 2.93sec in Melbourne yesterday at the AFL Kickstart National Under 16 Indigenous Camp.
"Thats pretty handy," said State Indigenous Programs manager Rick Hanlon who witnessed the dash. "Thats up there with the top AFL Draftees."
Bob is one of 50 junipr footballers from Australia's most remote communities attending the five day camp which started yesterday.
The itinerary for the trip leaves little time for sightseeing.
As well as the standard beep, agility and vertical leap tests, the boys will take part in a training ssession with St Kilda coaching staff, meet Cathy Freeman and play an intra-squad curtain raiser to the Richmond versus Hawthorn AFL clash at the MCG on Saturday.
At the end of the camp, a squad of 23 players will be picked for a 13 day tour of South Africa in January.
