Basketball Geelong Summer Championship Wrap (Round 8)
A 36 point haul from Ben Scannell helped Tigers to their first win of Basketball Geelong’s summer championship season on Tuesday night.
The Youth League star scorched Dolphins for 24 points in the first half of a 76-64 victory.
Mikey Lesic was Dolphins best with 19.
Vytis remains on top of the ladder after a comfortable 65-44 victory over Lara.
Kristian Bucovaz and Romas Liebich finished with 14 for the Knights, while Supercat Jason Reardon paced the Giants.
Christian College returned to the winners list with a nail-biting 50-47 result against Try Boys Bears.
The margin was never more than four at any of the breaks, however JJ Paton’s 19 points, including six three-pointers, proved the difference.
Mick Watson, who has been included in the Supercats training squad, had 16 for the Bears.
Steve Hyland’s 17 points helped Try Boys to a 53-46 victory over Sharks.
Dane Bow finished with 17 for the Sharks.
Rovers Hawks came from six points down at half-time to defeat YMCA Cougars 56-54.
Star junior Ellie Stevens continued her solid form with 16 points for the Hawks, while Kim Martin had 16 for the Cougars.
Prue Kenny underlined her value to Rovers with another 17 point haul in a 47-30 victory over Pivot City.
Kelsey Browne was the best for the Pivotonians with 16.
YMCA handed an under-manned Sharks a 62-11 thumping, with former Shepparton star Ash Hatton finishing with 19 points, while Candice Rogers had 16.
