Rovers have regained top spot on the women’s ladder from YMCA in a physical 41-37 win in Basketball Geelong Summer Championship action on Tuesday night.
Jemma Barns top scored with 11 points for Rovers, who went in without star shooter Prue Kenny, while Madi Koehler led Y with 8.
The return of Sharon Ford and Mel Schwarz helped Sharks return to the winners list with a 57-47 result over Rovers Hawks.
Ford top scored with 21, while Schwarz had 10.
Jess Watson led the Hawks with 18.
Try Boys made light work of the winless YMCA Cougars, with Tash Daffy starring with 30 points in a 64-29 win.
Tegan Barber was best for the Cougars, who were missing Jen Cleary and Kim Martin, with 9 points.
In the men’s competition, early-season pacesetter Vytis has slumped from first to fourth with a 61-40 loss to YMCA.
Kris Van Parreren top scored for Y with 17, while former Supercats skipper Jordan Hill had 16.
For the Knights, young gun Michael Rebula had 11 along with Romas Liebich.
Vytis’ loss opened the door for Christian College to return to the top of the ladder, thanks to 84-48 win over Tigers.
Keith Harrison paced the Eagles with 21, while Ben Scannell had 15 for Tigers.
Sharks held off Pivot City for a 55-53 win, thanks to 16 points from Dane Bow.
Youngster Stefan Osborne finished with 17 for the Pivotonians.
Big men Nick Van Der Klooster and Corey Smith both scored 22 points in Lara’s 65-46 win over Dolphins.
Cody Donovan kept Dolphins in the contest with 16 points.
Try Boys proved too good for an under-strength Rovers 50-36
