U18 State Team Selections

Basketball Geelong continues to show its array of junior talent with five players named for Country Victoria in the upcoming Under 18 National Titles.

Andre Garcey and Cody Donovan have been named in the boy’s team with Maddy White in the girl’s side, along with fellow Geelong VJBL stars Emily Koroneos and Zoe Donne - both emergencies.

They caught the eyes of head coaches in recent selection tryouts and will head to Terrigal, NSW on April 10 for the titles.

The local representation doesn't stop there with Rod Boone to join them as assistant coach of the girl’s team.

Garcey, Donovan and White will all suit up for their third national titles - the boys having both claimed gold in the under 16’s in 2008.

“It’s a great feeling to be playing for Vic Country again; hopefully we can take the gold home for a second time,” Garcey said.

All five play their representative basketball for Geelong in the Victorian Junior Basketball League but White and Donne make the trek from Warrnambool and Colac each week, showing their love for the sport.
